More Than Coffee: Its Family

More Than Coffee: Its Family

When people see the words family-owned, I know it can sound like a marketing phrase. For me, it is deeply personal. Wired Coffee Bar is not just a business I started. It is a story that my family and I have lived every single day since 2014.

I started Wired as a single mom with two young children in elementary school. At the time, I saw a gap in our community. There was a need for a place where people could gather, feel welcome, and slow down. I wanted to create a space that felt warm and genuine, not rushed or impersonal. What I did not fully realize then was that Wired would become such a defining part of our family’s life.

In the early years, my kids spent countless hours at the coffee bar. Wired was where homework got done, snacks were eaten, and conversations happened between customers and regulars who quickly felt like extended family. They watched me open early, stay late, and juggle every role imaginable. They saw firsthand what it takes to build something from nothing.

As they grew older, both of my children worked at Wired. It was their first job, and in many ways, their first real lesson in responsibility. They learned to do every job, from cleaning floors to serving customers to handling pressure during busy mornings. They learned that hard work is not glamorous, but it is necessary. They learned perseverance by watching it modeled day after day.

Today, seeing how that experience shaped them is one of my greatest joys. My oldest is now our artist in residence and a master barista. Her creativity lives in the details of Wired, from the visual elements in the space to the care she puts into every drink. Watching her grow into her role has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey for me as both a business owner and a mother.

Being family-owned also means that we have weathered challenges together. We have moved locations. We navigated COVID. We adapted to changing market conditions that forced us to rethink how we operate. There were moments of fear and uncertainty, but there was also resilience. We stayed. We adapted. We kept going.

Even my father, now 85 years old, is involved in the business. His presence is a reminder that Wired is truly multi-generational. It is built on shared effort, shared values, and a belief that everyone has something meaningful to contribute.

For me, family-owned means that every decision matters. It means I know our team personally. I know our regulars by name. I feel the weight of responsibility to create not just great coffee, but a place people can rely on. This business has never been just about profit. It has always been about people.

When you support Wired Coffee Bar, you are supporting a family that has poured heart, time, and resilience into this space for more than a decade. You are supporting a single mom who took a leap in 2014, two kids who grew up learning what it means to work hard, and a family that chose to persevere through every season.

That is what family-owned means to me. And I am grateful every day that our community has chosen to be part of that story. And as we grow our micro-roastery share the journey with us through beans that were carefully curated to represent the Wired brand and our attention to an excellent coffee experience.
